I remember you were happy
hard times you saw it through
a smile held strong most times
because beneath it you were true
and slowly times were changed
and what you knew was gone
left alone to think alone
you became your only friend
but a point came when that wasn't enough
no more days of laughter
now your days were filled by night
and so now your days are changing faster
you dealt with it but it was a fight
to wake up again for another disaster
confused by everything around you
hopelessness consumes your every thought
you put on a fake smile
and hope that you are not caught
but you reflect on what you once were
to now confirm that a part of you has died
and day by day you see the light and you see
that you are dying
