I'm Not Sorry (Unless You Are)

Contributed by Syrusv37 on Friday, 18th March 2011 @ 07:45:53 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

When the restless eyes of those who hate,
Those who hate and love to hate,
And love to see you fall,
When the open skies become your canvas,
And when the pinkest clouds trickle to orange,
Someday, those thoughts will reach you,
Riding upon a wisp of the words my tongue wove,
Attached to an envelope sealed with my ache,
I dare you to open it, my love,
I dare you to watch the words rush out to the world,
Swallowing your passion like the depths of the deepest waters,
They swirl into a delicious shade of blue,
Until it mixes with the most dangerous of green,
And when the eyes of strangers soak up the shades,
The colors can only paint a scene of beautiful sorrow,
As for me, I can see what is beneath the masks,
As for me, I can push the curtain of deception aside,
And with a wave of my hand, detach the mirages,
Forcing them to unfurl into the smoke of cigarettes,
The fumes and fakes of the modern world,
I promised I would not let them get the better of you,
And they did not, no they did not,
It was my fault for sinking so low,
Prying and prodding, lurking in the dark,
Not knowing what a twinge of jealousy,
Was capable of,
And I am not sorry,
Apologies fall on the deafest of ears,
Empty words are only full of empty thoughts,
But I will say this,
Though it took me longer than was intended,
To truly comprehend the thoughts of a woman,
A woman with a purpose, with stars embedded,
Deep within her eyes,
Never did I expect, never did I see coming,
The unbroken ecstasy that you would send me,
The passion and warmth, the devotion and trust,
Were more important than any burning anger,
Residing within my heaving chest,
God please forgive me,
For not being sorry, or sorry enough,
And my love forgive me,
Forgive me for ignoring the signs,
Please forgive me for not getting it right,
So let me rest, as the envelope I send,
On a gust of wind,
It may reach you in a day or a year,
But never you fear,
For it comes,
And comes for you.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
