i'm in a desperately nostalgic mood
or am i just desperately looking for you
last time i have seen you was 40 years ago
what do you look like now

what if i find you
and you don't remember me
would that make me feel sad

what if
my name is just a faded
portrait hanging in your room
how would i feel
if you don't remember
our childhood dreams

what if
somebody told me
you died 20 years ago
would i cry
would i feel empty
deep inside
or would i just
carry on with my life

what if
you are high and mighty
a lifestyle i so despise
would i still think of you and smile
could we still be friends

or would that be the last straw
to forget the past
and live in the now
