Lying here underneath this old oak tree I feel a warm wind brushing against my fair-skinned face. Radiant, immense rays bear down upon my brow Dripping, dribbling down my face. Seeking shelter from harmful burns. Kids frolicking, splashing in cool, crisp pools. Lemonade a superb idea Welcomed with groans of relief Quenching the unquenchable thirst. Women lying on blankets upon the ground Seeking a fabulous tan of beauty. Dogs slowly walking, panting, Skies clear, wind dies down Sidewalk hot, baking ones feet. All in shorts, some shirtless, to seek freedom To coolness of the body. Hand-held fans fluttering as they walk. Birds flying overhead to river to refresh themselves. Grass turning brown, lack of water to maintain life. Eating ice cream by popular demand, All life taking it easy. A restful, Mister Sunshine day.

Fantabulous writing.
It carries me back to the Summer of 1985.
THanks for torking my brain, it's beautiful.

Fantastic imagery; I could see, hear & feel everything in every line. Your meter & phrasing were nearly perfect. All leading to a yearning to be with you on this day. Excellent write. Thank you. |
