Ninth ward revives slowly- its clear Katrinas winds have yet to shift External xs like scars that cant be hidden mark houses, forcefully revealing flaws What about the spirit that pushes a people forward, against all odds?
Outwardly a place is often judged by its attractions- Riverwalk, Royal St., the French Market, Jackson Square- of these The Crescent City has much to share Later on the local spots are searched for and yesterdays playgrounds are deemed clich Eager exploration is nothing to be ashamed of. At all. But what would this city be without its people but ruins and a party no one cared to show up for Nobody stopped on St. Peters to hear the familys story of survival Sights to see and places to be made passing them by too easy ,
Lucky for the few who did Oh so few that bills left to pay the bills mirrored leaves blown randomly into a box Understand this though, that God was seen in the Quarter that day In the trinity of a couple singing praises and a childs graceful poise Smiling in the sunlight, eyes turned to the heavens despite the damage done by the floodwater It was said that man swam to woman with this child in her womb As the water moved its strangling cuff higher up her neck, all he saw was love Nothing is capable of conquering the human spirit when it is filled with such determination And though peril may turn a city to mud, it will never dissolve its ability to renew

I found this very powerful, wonderful portrayal of many things that make us human. |
