Broken wings can't lift me off bloody knees
When these cursed vices are anchoring me
To all that I've tried to leave in the past
No escape from the demons that claw at my back
Hither and thither they taunt with temptations
In a moment of weakness they smell desperation
Of apathy, of the bottle, of the touch from a lover
In my darkest of hours they rejoice while I suffer
I've been at war with myself and nobody else
There's no changing who I am or the cards I've been dealt
And I need someone now to save me from myself
Please God, please somebody save me from this hell
Oh, please just don't leave me here all alone
Stay with me tonight and my heart of stone
You know I hold the keys to my freedom at last
Resistance to desires that plagued my past
But I need your love to help with this fight
Or I swear to God these demons will take me tonight.
