Forever in my Hallway

Topic: LovePoetry

If you saw her, you would know.
She would stand out among the
most beautiful of gardens, and, the
most intense of sunsets.

Radiance seemed to well from her.
Every pore upon her dark skin
would give forth a nectar so sweet,
that bees would dance with furious envy.

The creatures of the wood sensed her always.
They would gather at her feet and lay wreaths
of flowers and scented thyme and mint.
They regarded her as a Queen and, creatures, so did I!

A chance meeting. That's what it was.
A chance meeting, in a field, frozen with snow.
New England, yes, that was the place.
Her beauty did seem to melt that snow.

And, so began my love. My love, that is now gone.
The snow and ice, that once encased my heart,
has returned. And it seems a thing of fancy
to remember, how once, she broke through that ice.

There she stood in my hallway, shrouded in darkness.
For the sun had begun it's sleep and the moon
was engaged with clouds that would not budge.
Like stubborn children who wouldn't listen. They did not move!

But the darkness was fine. It added to her.
We sensed each other, like a deer senses a hunter.
I, with wide eyes, saw her outline. Her hair was long and
draped, like thin dark curls of scented magic, over her body.

Then, without discourse, the clouds saw another attraction,
and the moon, the Moon! bathed my hallway in light, and I saw her.
In her magnificence, her regal beauty, her absolute splendor.
That image was forever burned in my mind. And still I reflect on it.

She was the Queen of New England and the owner of my young heart.
Alas, time. Time is bored and likes to play tricks. Time eroded
what we had together and, like an ice-berg that splits, we
drifted apart. Ah, but she is forever in my hallway. Time cannot take that!

A beauty that pure cannot be forgotten. Time will never take that.

Truly beautiful, this is very well written with wonderful imagery.
Just reminds me of someone I met last summer with who I was similarly enchanted and she too is 'forever burned in my mind'.
