A painter's lament

Contributed by scottstone on Monday, 9th May 2011 @ 02:06:44 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Addison Whirl the painting girl
She would color away the night
Through thunderstorms and starry skies
Until the morning light

Addison painted her pictures
In a world that was utterly dark
Which suited her, she was one happy girl
As the critics and snobs called it art

And the people, they flocked by the thousands
For they would bid up a price on her paint
With wind in their sales, drinking spruced up cocktails
Making a salesmen out of a saint

Addison Whirl the painting girl
Nobody cared about her, just her art
Neglecting the love that she painted
As her canvas of life fell apart

Great Poem. It was well-written. It speaks volumes about how people often forget that so many emotions go into a piece of art. Excellent poem.

A killer. A very precise poem. Hard honesty. With compassion. With acute perception of The Whole.
Thank you for this gemstone --scottstone-- in crystalline words. (OK, I HAD to see why this poem got 125 reads; now I know why!) More from you! --flinthunter
