I wanted to write a poem
But the words just wouldn't come
So I just put pen to paper
And your reading what I done
Its not the most beautiful
Or thoughtful I have wrote
But I was interested to find out
What, if anything, it brought
And what I do find in these words
Makes me think of how
I seldom write so presently
About the here and now
I've written about my memories
And set the scene of future dreams
But never before
Felt the present flow
Like constant rippled streams
In a void between the clinging past
And a hazy future prayer
The words that wouldn't come before
Were waiting for me there
