rose bush

Things should be better, I suppose
the sun in the sky,
riding high
should be shining on the roses
we planted last spring.

But that's the thing
the thing I don't get
and I bet that you'd bet
that that emotion was set.
but it was not
and oh, how I know
that despite care and attention
the roses I mention
won't grow...
without your glow
so, new seeds I'll sow

thing's should be better, I know
but despite the sun shining,
I'm whining
bout my failing rose
that we planted last spring.

But that's the thing
the thing I don't get
and I bet that you'd bet
that that emotion was set
but it was not
that damn thing won't grow
as I spare all attention
not inclined to mention
I can't grow
without your glow
but on with the show!

things won't get better for me
the sunshine is remiss
there's no bliss
don't notice the rose
that we planted last spring.

I dug up that thing
so I no longer get
for nothing is set
yes, you bet
that I'm new
and I'm over you
of course I am
you bet I am?

Great rhythm, rhyme. Would make a good song. Nicely penned. tfs
