Little twist of lemon Rind of the lime Pour over poison On crushed ice Bring the on the wine Rouge lips alive like summer In a hazy night
Theres lipstained love letters And scrawled numbers Heats in the hotel Hallways a flame Cocaine in the street below And a whispered. Game
Razor kisses on martini glass Tongue to a toothpick Fingertips on the gun And a smile on her hip
A tango shuffles feet Cards for the pigs And a man Wired live Without a beat

'Fickle cocktails' is indeed ambiguous, but there is a straightforwardness to it that can't be denied. We
are certainly in a saloon -- a bar -- and we certainly have drinks, love, and danger... and reality. The poem is a painting. Vivid colors. Heavy, quick, strokes of the brush. Abstract perspective. Dark and bright. Piercing.

I am uncharacteristically rather speechless. I don't know whether to make a cocktail or run to AA. Thank you for the provoking poem. Loved it!!! |
