As I've entered the Foxworth Hall It's high ceilings and mighty pillars that stand so tall Welcoming me with anxiety and grief As the walls watch me as I stiff I breathe the air of shame and guilt I was nothing but made of filth!
I slept in the room born out of vengeance So to think of it as a good riddance--------- From the grief, shame, guilt And the knowing eyes of the walls But they've crept...forcefully crawl...crawl...
Into my dreams and into my soul As I let them divulge me and let me fall Back to the time when I was small, Vulnerable and Imprisoned From the world's splendor
Haunting memories raced into my mind Buried in yesterday's seeds; in this rubble, Myself I can't find Forever will I carry this guilt and shame That I'm here and alive Unto my grave, the memories of paper flowers, Twin's laughter and these haunting past will I bring.

From one generation handed down to the next convictions, attitudes, self worth and a belief of how a person fits in is like having a code carved into stone of the mind, heart and soul.
The people who taught you these beliefs were victims of victims just like you are a victim of your parents beliefs learned from their parents, who were also victims. And it’s all lies.
You need to re-carve the text of your inner scroll with the true text about how wonderful and precious you really are. Then you will be a victim no longer and you will be able to pass down the truth and stop at least one person to not become a victim.

I really like this poem...well chosen rhyming words...but i must say this to you: while i realize this poem was inspired by the novel by V.C Andrews, (who is a very good author by the way) I also see some sort of inner struggle within yourself, like maybe you have been victimized. I am hoping this is not the case, but let your emotions out in your writing, that's what i do and it seems to help. For I too, am a victim, or was. No more am I a victim, and you don't have to be either. take care, and keep up the good work!!!! |
