We arrogantly state that we
this great we
are destroying the earth
but it will be
it will almost ever be
long after we are gone
but we think we have the answers
we can't even feed ourselves
we can't even spend a year without war
somewhere, someone thinks they are great
but, it's all been done before
just as bad
ain't it sad
yet we document our world
our 2011 years
since a foreign bloke who said too much
with a peaceful sort of steer
the only boy in his school year
may have been born
in a country that rejected him
or, probably got on with their lives
without any regard.
Yet he is worshipped and his followers are right.
So they can spread right
even if it is wrong.
Going above and beyond any quote he made.
Going through bloody battles with peaceful song.
The same thing happens 500 years later
and we judge as if barbarism is below us.
it will happen again.
For history is written by men.
with short memories
Other people live our lives for us on t.v.
We have opinions
based on what we are shown
lo and behold, we all have the same opinion!
Depending on where we live
and we are right.
I suggest whenever you think you are right
and you are surrounded by other like minded others
remember,
you are all wrong
and always will be
because you are human
a self-important, inconspicuous inhabitant
of a tiny blue speck.
You thrive on your tiny speck
and because you thrive, you deem yourselves gods
at least in his image
any argument can only be won through might
now, you demand numbers
to determine right
You call this democracy
Turkeys don't vote for christmas.
It is illogical
it will lead to self-destruction
but, the earth?
It will carry on
without us.
And we won't all be watching from heaven

| It seems to me like a kind of response on my other poem "chaotic world"....it might not be..of course...but it really sounds and feels like....but it is really a nice poem...I understand what you're trying to say. |
