She sits in a chair staring ahead I wonder what sort of a life she has led playing with her clothes sorting them out Somewhere inside she is wanting to shout
I was young once, vibrant and live kissing the boys, dancing the jive going on picnics down by the sea can't anyone see whats happened to me
all through the years I've been active and bold why is it now I've grown so old Now I sit in my chair, my life nearly through No one to talk to, nothing to do
Every now and then a smile fleets by A memory creeps in and then in a sigh I am lost again in this thing they call age Maybe tomorrow I'll remember when the world was my stage

My word I am touched and almost brought to tears! My grandmother has dimentia and she always tells me stories of when she was treated like a princess by all around her. Her spirit is still lively although her bones are weak. You have painted a perfect picture of my grandmother's feelings within this poem. Take care and may God bless you in Jesus' name,

Well put. I does seem that it will take forever to reach old age. And yet, when we get there we will all wonder how we got there so quick. |

A very sensitive and touching expression about the devastation of dementia; even without it, it is hard to grow old. I am sixty and I see where I am headed. But you gradually accept it -- after all you've no choice -- it's just the way it is. You handled a difficult topic with grace and much compassion. Thank you. -- flinthunter |

Sad poem, makes you reflect on your own life. Sometimes I feel I can relate. |
