The Journey
All the warnings of global warming had been ignored. It had taken five hundred years but the prophecies were true; Unfazed they had raped, pillaged and abused the world; Ripping out all the minerals, ores and fuels from beneath the surface And polluted the atmosphere with noxious emissions.
Yet still the world lived, spinning on its axis orbiting the golden sun. The final denouement was to be brought about by their own hands. Petty squabbles and localised conflicts between governments continued, Ever escalating, more and more frequently, utterly destructive. No time was taken to consider the future and plight of the global race.
Greed, tyranny, racism, religious intolerance and materialism abounded. No real effort was made to alleviate the plight of the poor. It was more than inevitable that there would be a final global conflict. The Hell it produced was far worse than could have been envisaged. Total devastation of the lands and a non-sustainable atmosphere the result.
Few remained when the end had come and those who did came here. Twenty years of travel with their present technology had brought them to this place; Another world populated by another species some four hundred years, A short time in truth, behind them in technological development. A second chance, a time to atone, to forget, to promulgate their race.
There was room here for their small number for they had studied it. The indigents would surely allow them a small place to live and grow. Perhaps they could share with them the perils of negligence And prevent the natives of this world from treading their own path. With trepidation they headed for the planet known as The Earth.
