Your Name

Contributed by BigMike on Thursday, 1st May 2003 @ 01:45:00 AM in AEST
Topic: dedicatedpoems

Everyday I write in memory of you-
And get at the enemies of me and you-
And it all comes back to you-
So if I have a son I'll name him after you-
If you were here I know you would be proud-
But now you're above me sitting on the 9th cloud-
And I wish history could change-
So I could at least know your name-
So you could see your youngest son achieve fame-
Up close and right here-
But all I have are thoughts that keep you near-
I got some issues that I need to resolve-
Dad I miss you, when I think of you my poetry evolves-
Slowly changing my flow-
Watching my resume grow-
And I keep growing-
But your youngest son grew up without knowing.

This is so sad and touching. I knew my father but he recently died and some of the confusion and anger I think you may be feeling - I feel too but for different reasons.

A truly great poem and a wonderful expression of emotion.

These "confusions" of parenthood are becomming commonplace now so many mixed/amalgamated families. A poem like this warns of troubles to come
