A FATHER'S BLESSING!

Contributed by robert_edgar_burns on Monday, 24th October 2011 @ 03:36:39 PM in AEST
Topic: FamilyPoems

If youd like to be a Champion,
And be known as one for Life,
Then you must pass a blessing on
To keep your kids from strife.

You should stand close by your children
And let them hear you say,
To hell and back Ill go with you
For Im behind you all the way!

And love must be unconditional.
Their performance will not do.
You must say to every child,
I love you,- because youre you!

Healing Powers are in these words.
Holding back could bring a curse.
And if fathers fail to do this,
Kids will find it someplace worse.

At risk youth from broken homes
Where fathers no longer stay,
Have filled our nations prisons,
Now forgotten and locked away.

As it was from the beginning,
Up until just recent times,
A fathers blessing was passed along
Making family bonding shine.

And that in turn is what God uses
To bolster every child.
By doing that it tames their souls,
Keeping hearts from growing wild!

And even to the Son of His,
When He was heard to say,
This is My Very Beloved Son,
That He chose to bless that day.

If Our Lord needed a blessing,
Before His ministry was begun.
Then fathers please bless your children,
Each daughter and each son.

I really like the message before you add the religious aspect of it. Many of the words written in the texts of the bible are so deeply written, in such a poetic and mysterious fashion that many of the scholars who study it have difficult times reaching the same conclusions and meanings. I would rather I teach my child a life ignorant of it, because I know that I know not the messages within, and the ones I do happen to get from reading it, I don't agree with. If my child read it, I would be afraid that they conceive a message metaphorical as literal, and hurt their self more than help it. However I will say again, it's a good poem, and I like the point that those of us that become fathers NEED to be actual fathers, and not allow their children to slip into unpleasant lifestyles, and that those that are pulled away from their children, can't do that. Nice job.
