IF I EVER LOST YOU!

Contributed by robert_edgar_burns on Monday, 31st October 2011 @ 12:53:11 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

If you ever left me,
So destroyed would I be.
For I would be as lost
As in a turbulent sea.
Slamming against rocks ,
Waves crashing toward me.
In Davie Jones locker
At the bottom of the sea.
If I ever lost you!

If you ever gave to me
One final kiss goodbye,
My heart would just stop beating,
And I would not care just why.
While inside the ambulance
While theyʼre pumping on my chest.
The only air escaping
Is your name with every breath.
If ever I lost you!

If you ever turned away
And walked out of my door.
Right then I would realize
I will see your face no more.
There would not be a bridge
Or mountain top too high.
That would keep me from jumping
While your name I would cry.
If ever I lost you!

If then with our parting,
Thinking it would be whatʼs best,
I can not help but tell you
As my heart rips from my chest,
That even in a thousand years
When forgotten we shall be,
I will not stop my loving
And my longing dear for Thee!
If ever I lost you!

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
