anguished

They say its bad for you.
Some dont heed the warning
until its too late.
Im getting palpitations. Maybe
Ill pull through.
A lot of people dont understand
the rush, the nostalgia, the hazy memories
Of an experience shared.
Dad overcame it but not before
a collapse.
She smiled and the wrinkles
around her eyes betrayed her
youth. Id still like to lay with her.
Full of impotent rage.
We sit in the autumnal chill.
Im behind the railings, opposite
the Heart Hospital. What a joke.
If only times procession would stop
just for a second so that we can inhale deeply.
Exhaling at the memory. Mum just gave up. We miss her.
