SABLE AND MINK

Contributed by robert_edgar_burns on Friday, 4th November 2011 @ 06:03:10 PM in AEST
Topic: HumorPoetry

I gave my true love what I believed
Was a priceless and thoughtful gift!
It was a sable fur coat with mink collar.
And I never envisioned a rift!

Now I could never wear a coat
So obviously made out of fur.
I could stand naked in a snow storm,
And never once utter the word brrr!

My true love took just one look
And threw my gift down on the ground.
Saying, I could never be with a man
As insensitive as you, you clown!

So I took the coat and tossed it,
As my ex just walked away.
It landed near a scruffy man
And this is what he had to say;

Please kind sir, Im homeless,
For I am living on these dark streets.
The warmth I shall garner from this coat,
Will cover me from head to feet!

I have already cried a vast river,
When these animals caught a shotgun blast!
So please be kind if you dont mind,
Pass the salt for this mink sable meat cooks fast!

Dear Robert:

That Touch of Mink

He thought he saw old Cary Grant
Upon the mantlepiece.
He looked again and saw it was
Clancy of the mounted police.

He thought he saw his bride to be
Wearing a lovely white gown.
On close examination
'Twas a european circus clown.

Upon his oath he sure espied
Shakespeare in the glen.
Yet squinting as he gasped and sighed,
Beheld he a Cornish hen.

A mink coat trimmed with sable,
He bestowed on his lady fair.
Yet when she took it in her arms
She spurned it, au contraire.

Did he see her wear it
In his dreams so late at night,
Or did he see instead a squirrel
Running from a fight?

'Twas his wishful thinking
Made him buy that costly fur.
Now she wears a bathing suit:
Mink is not for her!

Have a Dovely.

Sincerely yours,
SABLE, er, I mean CABLE.
