G'day, I'm Australian
and we are known, from
time to time - to be incomprehensible,
because we talk with a nasal whine
- we call that Aussie Strine
as in howthebloodyhellareya?
or, haveagoodweekend;
we drop consonants and
mangle vowels in
the messages we send
we're a mass of contradictions
LOUD, and sometimes shy;
call short people Stretch, and
rainy days are 'not too dry'
we can be very friendly,
convention's not out style
but when refugees land on our shores
we run a bloody mile!
still, we'll shout you a beer
and call you queer,
but only if you're a mate
and when you need someone to
watch your back...
- better go, it's gett'n late!
