Never Again

Contributed by rick2 on Thursday, 17th November 2011 @ 05:03:09 PM in AEST
Topic: Suicide

The snow began at mid day,
and continuing through the night
was piling up most everywhere
in a silence deep and white.

Each tree, each field, each highway
wore a heavy coat aglow
as the moon over head cast it's soft light
through the steady rain of snow.

I stood the next day at my window
watching the noiseless work of the sky.
No movement had I noted
just the browned leaves whirling by.

I dreamed of the woman of my yesterdays
and I trembled where I stood.
How wonderful it would be to hold her again;
But I knew I never would.

Again, I turned to the snowfall
and was reminded of the leaden sky
that arched over my greatest sorrow,
when shattered were my hopes so high.

I remember that gradual patience
that fell from a cloud like the snow;
Flake-by-flake healing and hiding
the scar of my deep-plunged woe.

Then in my dream-state I kissed her
and she kissing back could not know;
The kiss was given for the last time;
Never again would I see it snow.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
