The chains that bind me

I have chains that bind me
I need some courage
so I could be free

holding be down
wearing a frown
you are breaking me
what part of my pain
can you not see

you think that a nice word will do the trick
the only thing it does is make me sick
because I know the words are not true
you say them to empower you

I do not how to do it
this whole thing just makes me ill
to be honest
it would be so easy to just take a pill and get
rid of this chill
that is deep down in my soul
but that is not my goal

What I want to do
is to come out strong
and finally say
together we do not belong

The chains that bind me
hold me down
I feel as though I am about to drown

It is up to me to gather the will
and to clean up my own spill
but if I fall and down I go
I will not be down long
for the time has come
for me to be strong

So let me explain
it is up to me
to break this chain and at long last
I will be free
