Christmas is coming ....

Christmas is coming and his wallet's getting flat. Who'll drop a fiver in the old man's hat? If you can't spare a fiver then drop a 50p or he'll eat the chocolate faeries off your Christmas tree!
Christmas is coming and the shopping malls are packed with people looking lively and people looking whacked. They're bustling and they're muscling and not an inch they'll give. Two hours of yuletide shopping and you lose the will to live!
Christmas is coming, you've survived the festive strain. For all the children in your life you've jousted hordes again. Not because you must and not to win applause; to simply show that God and Christmas speak through Santa Claus.

((((( TOMMY )))))
If anything, I can joust hordes again and again.
I like the poem but in Santa's defense, he really is a very gentle and generous man. I met him the other day...really!

ah, yes, the mess of Chrissy and the simple themes at the heart of all the conspicuous consumption and ritual gift-giving. Have a good one, mate.

Loving how you took a well known nursery rhyme seed and grew it into this humorous poem. I don't think I can read anymore of your work...I am getting quite jealous! : ) |
