"HER BROTHER"
He is kind, gentle, and loving
her protector and her friend
he misses her so deeply
from days beginning to days end
Sometimes he hears her in a song
or sees her in the sky
sometimes he cries in silence
still asking God "why"
She was his baby sister
many memories they did share
sometimes doing stupid things
but really didn't care
He was there through the tough times
he was there for her support
he gave her strength and guidance
always praying, he had had better news to report.
He choked back the tears as he tried to make her smile
knowing God was only giving him with her, a very short while
he cherished every moment, he never left her side
he was a true brother and to her he never lied.
She wanted to know everything, as grim as it was
It was her way of "dealing", that's the way she was
he explained to her the very best he could what the doctors said
he honored every wish as he said he always would.
God came for her on Thanksgiving Morn
She went with him when she heard his golden horn
the sign to come home, to be pain free
To be healthy and happy, the way it used to be.

| Such a moving write, it brought tears to my eyes, and a sad smile to my face. I lost my best friend last month, and your words were an echo. Thank you so much for this loving poem. |
