Last Christmas Eve

it was christmas eve
and I decided giving myself a treat
together with some friends
we settled at a bar to enjoy ourselves
................................
bottles were emptied
and more kept coming
we drank to stupor
and still wanted mor
unaware of our fate ahead
we kept drinking till we were inebriated
..............................
in our drunken state
we departed to our various home
staggering and leaping
we kept on moving
.........................................
when I got home
it wasn't me but my shadow
before I could say a word
I was already on the floor
shamefully laid on my own vomit
lifeless and couldn't breathe
but for my lovely family
that stood by me
and weren't irritated of the mess I had become
I was able to hang on
.......................................
thus I decided
to stay away from alcohol
for the remaing of my days
ever indebted to my family
whose unflinching love
kept me on the run
