I've been setting in the park, waiting for a firefly to steak across the dark. Only flash for a second, then it's gone, as my night slowly approaches dawn.
I want to catch the brightest one of the night. I'll keep it forever, it will be my guiding light. Everytime I have one in the glass, I trip and fall facedown in the grass.
I don't want catch the ones who are close, for these are the ones I like the most. If I begin to chase them, poof they'll be gone. Then I'll be completely alone waiting for the dawn.
So when they flash I'll just smile, wishing they were in my jar all the while. As I sit here with my empty jar, watching the fireflies to streak from afar.
