Contradictions

Contributed by angelus8663 on Friday, 30th December 2011 @ 06:42:22 AM in AEST
Topic: poets

Im broke, but Im well off. Im tired, but wide awake.
Im sad, but Im hopeful, Im confident, but full of mistakes.
Im lost, but know where Im going. Im home, but far away.
I live with these contradictions, every single day.

Im in love, but heart broken. Im in a crowd, but all alone.
Im playful, but too serious. Im satisfied, but like to moan.
I wear blinkers, but can see far. I like where I am, but Im ready to go.
Of the turmoil inside me, few people could ever know.

Im excited, but Im bored. I believe in something, but do nothing for the cause.
Im laid back, but very driven. Im peaceful, but I have nasty claws.
Im mad, but understanding. I have no idea, but I pretend to know.
The cracks deep inside me, are beginning to show.

These inconsistencies I bear, turn out to be good,
I wont seek the help, I really know I should.
Because to write the words we say, be it truth or fiction,
Every single poet, should be filled with contradiction.

amen to that! I recognise every bit of that and just as sometimes it's a burden in life, in writing it's one hell of a blessing! Great write x

Amen! Amen! Amen!

This is fantastic. It's first strength is the subject. Yes, we are humans and of course us who are poets should always be of contradiction. Life is not an evolution without contradiction and in many ways we should embrace that fact.
So the subject is strong, proper, and relevant but the delivery is the brilliance. You never become too wordy, and its fresh and entertaining with a solid rhythm. Wow poet, just Wow!

BRAVO!

Continuing your high standard of verse this drives with a pulsing metre. It shows us that as soon as we make one statement the opposite can also be true. Great write - - Dave - -

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
