I know you said
I'll be back
but
just kiss me

hold me tight
and press your
cheek
to mine

tell me everything
will
be fine

and that you
will miss me

now, before
you make last
farewells...

just kiss me.

Hi spike,

This farewell is so much more appropriate & accetable than so many I've experienced in the past. Might I say, possibly, farewell should bring a new beginning, (however hidden in the veil of goodbyes) instead of a distancing & severed ending. I believe, loving someone from a distance should be heralded as an art. However, we do suffer for our art, do we not. . .

Cheers in the New Year! elle

Parting is "just" sweet sorrow. 'Til next year. Come back 'n' visit next year, Spike, Marti volunteered to kiss ya goodbye. Happy new year, 2012.

Nice write. Made me think of two things, lost love and the old year leaving and new beginings! Or is that 3?

Hi Spike,

I'm not sure whether this is a fond farewell
to a living breathing person, or to another
old year - but I do hope that if it is a person,
it ended amicably and not tragically.
Either way, a fine piece of poetry, as always.

Tommy
