the stage is set, all lights, all smoke, no star the mike is there alone and you are far the crowd sit restless, I sit at the bar
I lost my place with you, upon the stage beyond the shock and awe I turn to rage doormen so proud, I'll make them earn their wage
at last I stand, the light's are sharp, so bright he holds your hand, I need to hold it tight but now you're gone and I just want to fight
a heckler calls, I fade, they boo, and laugh my act is fake, they tell me that I'm naff I barely breath, blood boils right off the graph
alone, unloved, ignored. It's hard to take you stood me up, a comic needs a break
