Long-awaited Kiss
Today that day of affirmation You came to me and I made to kiss And instead of turning that face Up and away to expose your neck So that I may lay a customary peck You did put a finger to that place I have eagerly sought your lips O joy and sweet celebration!
Soft and plump I touched your lips Tracing them with trembling fingers Memorising that wondrous outline
I closed my eyes and moved forward Listening to your shallow breath Finally to place a long-awaited kiss
