She's the memory made in moonlight,
a web-like shadow in the mist.
Just a hazy recollection,
of the rainy night you kissed.
Lips so softly touching,
wet from rain or were they tears?
just a memory made in moonlight,
reaching for it through the years.
Flames make shadows on the ceiling,
and alone they do a dance.
Moving ever closer,
but afraid to take a chance.
Disappearing in the darkness,
nothing but the fire's glow.
No one left to stir the embers,
and they are the next to go.
Just a memory made in moonlight
fading through the lonely years.
Lips so softly touching,
wet from rain or were they tears ...

I can remember a night like that but it was a full moon instead.
