I consider myself a holy saint
For the Good Lords work I do not taint
I will be quick to tell you the 72 reasons why I am a good follower of Christ
And I will be sure to show you how my immense wisdom came at great price
I am quick to reveal your sin which is a harmful disease
However, I must ask for your attention to remain on me please
Don't worry some day you will be as holy as I
You can trust me because I never lie
I can show you how to fool people and God alike
For I know the 10 step way to become Christ-like
You have a lot of sin to deal with
While my sin is nothing but a myth
Holiness and I have become synonymous
The author of this assertion is seemingly anonymous
For I would never want to put myself at the center of attention
And I would never want to cause dissension
But I must admit I do have things pretty well figured out
And I get tired of the services where Mrs. Jones always has to shout
I think the Holy Spirit just told me that Mr. Johnson is having an affair
So this must mean that with congregation I must share
Because I hear the Holy Spirits voice quite well
Which is a deception I adequately sell
For as long as I say Jesus a few times and quote the Bible
Everyone assumes that what I say is viable
I am lucky the sins of lesser men do not affect me
Even if they did I would not be willing to see
Because in reality I am covered in more sin than most
But of my holiness I choose to boast
I am no better than the Pharisees were
But I have been taught well that this is the line to blur
I must do my best to avoid a clear view of reality
For if I see it I will see my great lack or morality
I must hide my spiritual insufficiencies with the reciting of the Word
In order that I convince myself that I am not absurd
This delusion has captured me whole
I am nothing more than a blinded soul
I fail to see that my actions do not connect with what You teach
For I, more than anyone, do not practice what You preach
I am so far off the mark
The light I see is actually dark
