TIPARILLO VALENTINE

In the 1950's through the 1980's there was a cigar company named Robt Burns Cigars & Tiparillos. They saw my birth announcement in the paper, and sent my parents a box of birth announcements for my birth arrival on Feb 14, 1953 with cigars attached with a gold ribbon. The announcement said 'We will throw away our burns butts, but you should keep yours!'

It was for her a night of joy.
For she gave birth to her baby boy.
A Valentine in the truest sense.
It was a gift that was heaven sent.

A cigar placed Into her hand.
Given to her by an unknown man.
And it was taped onto a card.
The words she read, made her laugh hard.

Though we may smoke and burn our butts.
You should keep yours and love him much.
And it was signed by that same fellow.
Your friends all here at Robert Burns, Tiparillos.

We sincerely thank you, for the choice of name.
For that name is our claim to fame.
And every year, well send another card.
And to it taped, another cigar.

Now mom and dad are gone today..
Ill smoke that cigar, on my special day.
Valentines Day, I will always say,
Is a wonderful thing, for its my birthday!

This is a stellar write and such a fun read. I remember the cigar company. Has the feel of a classic already. Well penned indeed. tfs
