THE DAY IT WAS I LEARNED OF LIFE

THE DAY IT WAS I LEARNED OF LIFE

The day it was I learned of Life
Was like no other to my mind
For death that day came closer than
He ever had before that time.

And such was getting short I felt
Though what that meant I could not say
It might be year it might be month
Or even week or even day

Then time to live and time to cry
And time to sing no lonely song
For when it be ones time to die
Of sudden in the world belong

What point then tell of tear or need
Or all believe both dark and light
Repeating pages of the deed
The growing up the fear the flight

The happiness the laughter love
For all be gone and comfort leave
And who then after comfort-one
In memory of gift recieve

And that with pleasure so to have
To lend to others then to give
To hasten joy delay the sad
What other point there be to live

And so no more to end this Time
All done of speaking truth and lie
For what I found was all to find
The day it was I learned of Life.

Great write. Sometimes it's what it takes to realize how precious life is.
