Identity (Narrated by the soul of Donavan McNeil)

Contributed by Blackheart on Saturday, 21st January 2012 @ 06:25:56 PM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

(In the midddle of the night after a troubling nightmare, Donavan goes to the bathroom and takes quite a long look at himself in the mirror. Suddenly, his reflection starts talking to him about his greatest problem - adversity.)

Reflection: Adversity's tryna take over you

Starting with your mind

If he enter sanity's castle

That's the end of the line!

Donavan: He's already on our property

The ground of our estate

It's inevitable, he Will infiltrate

But to stop him, it's not too late

Reflection: Wait...listen

Donavan: That's him

(The lightbulb implodes, and a few seconds later, the dark is illuminated by the mirror with 5 cracked reflections of him. However, these reflections are the beings from his nightmare only he sees them as himself. He is in disbelief for a few seconds but then his face expression goes from shocked to serious.)

Donavan: Whoaaa!

Reflections: What's wrong

Don't like yourself

I don't blame you

If I was you I wouldn't like myself!

You're a waste

A disgrace

A failure

And a Born Mistake!

You're the reason Mommy got into drugs

You're the reason she's dead

Do you really believe those saying it's not your fault

Of course it is, get that through your head!

(After hearing those words, Donavan becomes furious. He speaks normal tone at first, but as he goes on the rage in his voice is beyond noticeable.)

Donavan: I'm no longer afraid

You're nothing more than a fear to face

So here's my face

And watch me lift you over my shoulders like the world's weight!

Make no mistake

Full responsibility for that I take

But she still loves me

Even to this very day

As for you

I'm stonger than you

Your words mean nothing to me

But mines do, so listen fool

If you're an obstacle

I'll overcome

If you're college homework

You will get done

Because I'm tryna graduate

Use you like an escalator and escalate

Like an elevator and elevate

To an undiscovered level

Adversity

Adversary

You are an enemy

But a temporary

As I speak

I see you tearing

No more I'm scared of you

Now you are scared of ME!

I'm high authority

So I salute myself

There are 6 of me

So be gone if you aren't MYSELF!!!

(The mirror's illumination dies and deteriorates back to whole. The dark becomes light and all Donavan sees...is one man with one goal.)
