Grief

She was seventeen years old. I was a lonely boy, with acne and too much testosterone. I remember a song she used to hum on the way to school. Now, the wind keeps whistling that melody. I can still feel her body, all warm and soft, pressed close to mine. I can feel her breathing in the empty hours of night. There were stars in her glossy eyes, always a cigarette in her pretty mouth. She was the only light in my life.
Sometimes she would cry, and tell me how much she hated her step dad, who used to hit her mom. A year after my precious died, that step dad committed suicide. I guess he never figured out what attacked him inside. I pour Vodka on her ghost and hide behind Oxycodone, but she always manages to find me in my dreams. Theres a candle in the room, I think Ill blow it out soon. I just have to ask myself; eternal sleep or hatred in bloom?
