Homeward Bound

Topic: LoveRemembered

Homeward Bound

The miles fall behind slowly
At last hes homeward bound
Yearning for his children
His wifes arms as they surround

How he longs to see her smile
That light in her eyes
To feel her warmth at night
Hold her as she cries

So many songs and poems written
About the glamour of the road
Ah but the trucker knows
The real story goes untold

There is no glamour
Sleeping lonely and cold in a truck
Hustling for every penny
Often relying on luck

Knowing your children are growing
Leaps and bounds every day
Maybe not understanding
Why dad is away

Yes the trucker does his job
Driving hundreds of miles each day
And for every route he takes
There are tears along the way

But tonight thats all forgotten
There is joy in his heart
For in just a little while
The reunion will start

And for a few days
Happiness will abound
He can hardly wait
He is homeward bound

Russ

I did write it because of Christinas poem to her husband but it is a tribute to all those who sacrifice by doing what you do. Just wanted to show- someone cares.
All my best to you maam.--Russ
