Who is the Goddess who has thousand
Faces of lions with blazing tongues of fire?
Who is the Goddess whose anger burns down
The cruel demons and evil forces in the world?
Who is the Goddess who purges the souls
And grants them blissful beatitude?
She is Goddess Pratyangira,
Revealed to Vedic Sages!

I meditate on Goddess Pratyangira, who has a hundred thousand
Lion-faces, who comes out of a deep, deep place, within the dark,
Dark Void, where there are no thoughts of fear, pain, loss, or want
Or even the time or space, except the warmth of Mothers love!
~*~
O Goddess of fierce Cosmic force! In the beginning of the Creation,
When a great golden egg of fire in the dark Void had exploded and
Scattered millions of Suns, then You assumed millions of lion-faces
With blazing tongues of fire; that fierce form You had not revealed!
~*~
Out of mercy, You manifested Your secret form to Vedic sages Angirasas
Appearing as a Maiden with a dark blue body having a male lion-face
Riding on a golden chariot pulled by four great lions, and being praised
By Angirasas, You are called by their names Goddess Pratyangira!

O my Goddess Pratyangira! When will You possess me as my Mother
I long to see You, come with all swift currents of Your cosmic energy!
Your form is the expression of the union of Shiva and His great Shakti.
You are the great Goddess who controls the equilibrium of the universe!
~*~
You have thousand faces of lions with blazing tongues of heavenly fire
And thousands of hands carrying many swords for removing all obstacles.
The jaws of lions clearly make that You are very powerful for destroying
Negative karmas, and a great blessing to Your devotees on spiritual path!

The Sages who were great devotees have declared in their hymns
That You are all powerful, secretly protecting devotees and others
You are always by the side of Your devotees, awakened within them
In all planes of existence to give refuge to other righteous men!
~*~
O Great Pratyangira! O Mother Divine!
Burn down my negative karmas and smash all my enemies
Burn down my past sins and purify my soul, by licking
With Your white fiery tongue! Take me unto Your lap!
Bless me Your love in a warm blissful embrace!
