As I ventured in the wood, I raced to the tree I most desired. It was one of spotless and perfect beauty, It radiated a gleam of colors and fruit that drew all near. People sought after this tree For there was none that could compare.
I had this tree once, But lost it in a wicked world. Its faultless beauty became covered by an evil darkness that enveloped me. Drawn away from my true love I was soon lost, Lost in a dark world of lies, misery and despair. Finally I saw the trees light once more; but it was too late.
Torn from the dark I ran to my hopeful light, Praying wishing that everything would turn out right. The more I ran and raced to the tree I loved most, The more this run, turned from a race to a fight for dear life.
My feet, binded by ball and chain; My back, burdened with a weight unbearable to man; My hands, greased with a blackened slime of sin. Adversity was my enemy and defeated I was,
Guided and strengthened by a hopeful spirit, I reached the tree. Sadly to see that it had turned its back upon me. I felt as if my heart had been pierced with an icy dagger, Left broken and all alone; Still, I fought for my tree.
The limbs, to high to grasp; My feet, to heavy to move; My back, crippled with guilt. Climbing the tree to obtain the fruit that was once mine, Is now impossible and out of reach.
Forced to claw at the base of the tree for all eternity, Tortured to witness others easily take what once belonged to me. I cry, I yell, i profess my love; But this tree, once ripened by my voice; Now rots at my very touch.
My hands, blemished with a dark sin; My feet, heavy from and evil journey; My back, broken by remorse.
I sit at the foot of the tree; Head hung in shame, Hoping and waiting, That one day, My burdens shall be lifted And I too, can gain another chance with this tree of perfect beauty.
