MATES

Contributed by Ochonochar on Saturday, 17th March 2012 @ 05:42:13 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

There are many things that mattered, as Ive strode the path of life
The first goal kicked, the wedding day, my own childs cry, my special wife
But up amongst the highlights, of nigh on sixty years
Have been the friends whove come and gone, or simply shared a beer.

For nothings quite so precious, as a friend when the need is great
Who simply cares about you, just because you are a mate.
Whos always standing at your door, the moment they hear your call
To give whatevers asked, ready to give their all.

Ive friends Ive known for many years, that I never could replace
And friendships newly kindled, that ever smiling face
There are those who passed quite quickly, through the years my life has run
But left me better off for knowing, each and every one.

Now that the years are passing and my hair is turning grey
And one reflects on what ones done to pass the time each day
I count my lucky stars each night, for the hand that I received
Those paths Ive crossed, that played a part, in all that Ive achieved.

Hi,

A fine tribute to those who make life bearable
and worth bearing.

Tommy

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
