A perfect poem

Contributed by MiniMiss on Friday, 30th March 2012 @ 05:04:16 PM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

When I was told i had to write
A poem once in school,
I thought i'd make it really funny
They'd surely think it's cool.

I grabbed my pen and paper
And the words they just spat out.
I didnt really have a clue
What i would write about.

But it just had to be perfect,
Must be better than the rest.
I didn't really try too hard
As long as it's the best.

So I simply picked some words that rhyme,
And scribbled them all down,
But when I showed the teacher
She then began to frown.

"A poem is ones deepest thoughts,
Not just words that rhyme, you see".
And as i sat, I thought quite hard
And then it came to me.

I tried so hard to make them perfect,
Right up from the start.
But a poem can't be perfect
'Til it's written from the heart!

The heart is much too fragile of a machine.
The soul is the best place to find strength, and for that the heart needs to beat plainly. Let the heart be the focal point, let your soul stir out.

Anyway, nice poem. It has a good flow to it.
