SLEEPING DOGS

When talking dogs upon their birth
Come out as Democrats,
It's when their eyes are opened,
They realize it's not where they are at.

Don't laugh to loud Republicans.
Your turn is coming next.
Paid to play Solitaire on your computers,
Many constituents you have vexed.

After arriving each morning in limousines,
The Master At Arms turns off all lights.
For you need ten hours of sleeping,
Since your partying goes on all night.

A commission check should be offered them.
Make it contingent against a draw.
And if they cannot handle this,
Place their backs up against the wall.

A rabid animal doesn't feel a thing
If it's shot right through it's head.
But if you divorce a congressman,
He'll jump into anyone elses bed.

In times of slavery people sang
"We Shall Overcome!"
In November we all have the chance,
To rid ourselves of some bums.

We hope to Up the esteem of lawmakers.
Sometimes we feel we are sure.
But the rallying cry of each session,
A call to the voters is "Up Yours!"

Sleeping dogs accept any praise,
When you startle each one awake.
But not so with politicians.
They will kiss an unseemly place.

"Four score and seven years ago,"
Mr. Lincoln sure said that fine.
Congress today just clinks goblets.
And are drunk with their power and wine!

No truer lines have been written
Great job
'a plague on both their houses' I think Shakespeare
said something like that
as a survivor of the sixty's follies
it seems to me our leaders haven't learned a thing.

Take care
Richard
