Conscientia

Contributed by TheMackerelOfDisbelief on Thursday, 19th April 2012 @ 07:54:56 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Cast yourself into these sweeping halls of profaned merit,
Soaring pillars and spires signifying the veneer of excellence,
Walls encroaching, directing you to the new populist aim, their aim.
Delve into texts, scriptures, lose yourself to them, within them,
Let shallow messages conjure deep thoughts... but not too deep.
Admire these scarlet-stained bricks, coloured by the blood of mavericks
Slain in fell swoop; ground, shaped and moulded into yet one more grotesque mirror of their crest.
Allow yourself this bounty of conformity, veiled unity
But know its festering, divisive truth before you venture;
With false words the foul knight looks upon you, pitiless, 'Et augebitur scientia'.

Yes... but not to deep. Exactly. I've seen a fair share of good writing on this site but not many as good as this. The question I have is are you taking the last line to mean and knowledge will be increased or and science will be increased. Given the context I would lean toward the former. A mockery of learning... a foul haven for conformists who mold students into the same mindless conformity that was fed to them. Yes. I'll sell you a piece of paper that says you're smart for the small fee of 100,000 dollars or there-a-bout. Hmm... no thank you. lol. Great work. Keep telling the truth. Though it ( truth) is often unpleasant to hear it is far to important to be silenced. Truly , Doug

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
