THIS PAIN

Contributed by darkwolf on Tuesday, 1st May 2012 @ 05:02:17 AM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

Broken hearts, depressed souls,
I know and understand them all too well.

My life is lined in darkness,
Four long years I've wandered through utter darkness.

Only for brief moments did I find some light to guide me out,
As quickly as they came they vanished.

Leaving me lost, alone and helpless yet again in the darkness,
I've learned to find comfort in this darkness,
By myself,
Me and my mind alone I find comfort.

Loneliness it seems I will forever feel,
Yet even in this comfort that I did find in myself,
I still wish for another light to come my way.

If only for the brief moment that it is there,
It gives me enough strength to hold onto this life a little while more.

So lonely inside, no one seems to understand the pain I feel,
The longing to be part of the light.

I put on a daily mask so that I my hide my torment, so that people won't notice the torment I feel,
But the signs are there if they choose to look, for some things are hard to hide even with the mask.

The scars on my upper-arm, each one a sad story, some new, many old,
They pain and emptiness in my eyes, So dull it just seems empty inside.

Pain it seems forever I will feel,
A void in my soul I long to fill.

I found comfort in the darkness,
But even so the darkness eats away at my heart and soul,
Leaving me more dead inside as the days go on.

I wish for all of this pain to end,
But even with shortcuts I know I will not find any release.
