The meaning of a poet

I try to write the poems
that get attention fast
I try to write the sweet one's
of memories that last

I try to write the ones
that always bring a smile
it's all a part of me
& made to last awhile

I rely on my poems
to somehow tell the tell
of the hot shot poet
so the name rings a bell

The bell that should ring
as a story would unfold
of a man lost in this world
with a heart of solid gold

He feels he has no usefulness
in this crazy world at all
& he's so afraid of love
or maybe just the fall
the hot shot poet
