Growing Pains

Contributed by Gravity on Monday, 21st May 2012 @ 07:18:05 PM in AEST
Topic: Nostalgic

(Dedicated to my mom. 9/10/54 - 1/3/12. Miss you.)

Adulthood tastes like stale fear.
Forget everything you've heard about things aging like a fine wine.
Fermentation does nothing to improve the taste of this bitter brew.

It is all sweetness in the juice box of youth.
Blankets can defy the boogeyman, mom's kisses can heal grave wounds.
You know invincibility and the promise of a new tomorrow.

The bane of maturity is "knowing better."
Failure, consequence, fees, penalties, mortality, eviction, rejection, loss, and death.
To think that once you were in a hurry to grow up.

Full of expression some great poetic lines esp like fermentation............brew.Ironically a great deal of energy and life behind the words which reflect a different picture.

I lost my mom too. I know how you feel. I've been there. Just think about the good times and remember that she will always be in your heart. Good writing.
