You cannot dim the eyes of the dying for they no longer use the world to see,
But you can see the flicker of the soul that shines, for they are no longer the Flesh before you, and they are leaving.
And you cannot keep the soul in earthy tombs nor encase the spirit in a memory
Jar.The stones will not be their bedstead, and neither will you find them amongst
The ordered rows of physical need.No matter how many coins you dedicate to the
Ground, to keep them in the place where you look for them, where you remember
Them, they are not there,
Bones the earthly reminder of the physical life.
Ashes, as memories carried away on the breath of Natures whisper
Flesh of my flesh may bring mortal answers in reflection
Revelation may bring awakening to the true gifts left behind for only you
But much more,so much more than that is the peace you seek, found in the realisation of your place In this world.
For now.

The science fiction writers may disagree.
Seriously though, I have read this a few times now with some difficulty. That in no way means the poem is bad. On the contrary, it brought out so much emotion in me that that is where the difficulty came in to play. That's damn good writing!!!! Found those tears want to rise from the depths of me and I had to fight them back down. (Hank Hill gulp)
Sadness, beauty, and happy interlaced in to that which is our YPDC Anna! ! !
Thank you,
Tim |

A stunning and evocative flow of words here, as ever it made me sit up and think about life.
This site never fails to inspire me when I read such quality craftsmanship

Memories of a lost loved one cannot be buried.
They're sealed in the heart and mind - and
there, they still live. What is done with their
mortal remains is peripheral. The soul is
eternal ..... at least that's what I prefer to
believe.
Well written, Anna.
