The Park

Contributed by Action567 on Thursday, 14th June 2012 @ 06:35:01 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

She looked so young and frail
Just sitting there in the dark
She did not see or hear me
As I came upon her in the park.

She was crying so softly
So no one would hear
I knew that I could not go
That much was clear

I did try to walk on by
But I could not take another step
I had to find out
If she needed any help

She never looked up
To see me standing there
I wanted to do so much
But all I could do was stare.

She was very young
That was plain to see
But what she was doing here alone
Was puzzling me.

She finally raised her head
And slowly opened her eyes
As she looked at me
She seemed so surprised.

Her name was Kelly
And she had gotten lost in the park
She could not find her way out
Because it was so dark.

She had been so frightened
Until she looked up and I was there
She could not believe someone finally stopped
To show that they cared.

The park was full of people
But no one stopped to see
If she was okay or needed anything
They just let her be.

It is so sad to think
Of how this world has come to be
Sitting on that park bench all alone
Could have been you or me.

Just as every poem, it is wonderful. You say I have a talent, but I think yours is even better!

This is pretty much what my line Compassion is not afforded from a self absorbed crowd.
Their awareness deficiencies expound
. Yours is just more clear.

Kinda makes me wonder if she was very young, why would the authorities and worried family not be looking for her. But nevertheless, there are indeed people in life that do suck and are all self absorbed.

Anyways, I liked this and has a nice rhyme scheme and flow.

Thank you for an enjoyable and interesting read.

Tim
