To Get Over You

Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Life isn't Hollywood so fine
I want to know what lies in the wings of time
I want to know my hope's not misplaced
As the tears forge a path down my face
And now my walls are crumbling
Giving way to the suitors' silent siege
I never had the strength to look within
And unknot my tongue to let you in

So now I'm looking back
And I can't stop the feelings from rushing in
I guess I'm still a broken castle
Just lying on the ocean floor
And I was a field of devestation
Until our eyes collided for the first time
Then there was an explosion of vegetation
Finally - a life worth living

And what am I trying to hold on to?
Just some old ghosts of me and you?
Some old ghosts lying in the dark
Whispering words that meant everything
So what am I trying to hold on to?
Just some ghosts of what we should be?
I guess happy endings don't always exist
Afterall, this isn't some Hollywood script

But if I had a time for every nickel I've spent
I might finally have enough time to get over you
